The U.S. Marines first arrived in San Diego in 1911. See where the 4th provisional regiment lived. Some wonderful black and white photos show the various homes for the Marines as they later moved to Balboa Park and then to their permanent home at Marine Corps Recruit Depot near Pacific Highway. Years later, historical photos would mark the visit of President John F. Kennedy to the depot.
