The Diamond A Ranch was once the largest cattle operation in South Dakota. Untold thousands of cattle were shipped from the ranch's stockyards near Eagle Butte to markets as far away as Chicago. The Diamond A ceased operations in 1944 but now a local rancher is restoring the old wooden stockyards with an eye on using them again someday.
