Clip: Season 41 Episode 2 | 7m 11s
The East Lynne Theater Co. in Cape May presents Kyle Bass’s “Possessing Harriet,” about a young woman's flight to freedom in 1839. Bass based the play on a true historic encounter between "the fair fugitive" Harriet Powell, abolitionist Gerrit Smith, his neice Elizabeth Cady, and Thomas Leonard, a free Black man who helped Harriet escape. Also included is the Harriet Tubman Museum of New Jersey.
