Hoboken to hire social workers to help homeless community

The city of Hoboken is planning for the first time to hire social workers to address the needs of the homeless population. Ken Ferrante, Hoboken’s director of public safety, says using social workers to respond to complaints of disorderly conduct, or people on the street needing help, will be a better way of tackling issues in the community while allowing police to focus on keeping the city safe.
