Business Report: Unaffordable rents

On Tuesday, members of the Senate Banking Committee heard testimony that more renters are at risk of becoming homeless. Princeton University sociology professor Matthew Desmond testified that last year rents increased 17% faster than they ever have on record and evictions are surging. He called for passage of the Eviction Crisis Act, which would fund a new emergency rental assistance program.
