Agencies work hard to help Afghan evacuees resettle in NJ

At its height this winter, Operation Allies Welcome at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst housed some 11,000 Afghan evacuees, who flee as the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August. Resettlement agencies, aided by community groups, have been working to place the Afghan evacuees that have come into NJ over the last six months, with housing options restricted by the pandemic and Superstorm Ida.
